Huskers Hit the Road Against No. 14 Ohio State

The Big Red rifle team will hit the road for the first time this season to face the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus, Ohio. The match will start at 8 a.m. (CT) on Saturday, Oct. 3. Results can be found here. 

Nebraska defeated No. 15 Akron 4,743-4,673 in its season opener on Sep. 26. As a team, NU shot the seventh-highest score in the aggregate in program history. The Huskers also shot the tenth-highest smallbore score and fifth-highest air rifle score in program history. Individually, the Huskers claimed all top five spots -- Carley Seabrooke (1st, 1189), Maddy Moyer (2nd, 1187), Katlyn Sullivan (3rd, 1185), Alivia Perkins (4th, 1181) and Makenzie Larson (5th, 1179). Moyer also broke her personal record in the smallbore with a 592.

"We are excited to be hitting the road for our first away match of the season,” Head Coach Richard Clark said. “Traveling with the team is always a fun time. Coming off of Saturday, the team has focused on defining the amount of energy it takes to shoot a good quality shot, and we have seen some really great things in practice with it. I am excited to see what this group can do on the road and continue building as we get further into the season."

For Ohio State, the upcoming match is their season opener. In recent years, the Huskers have won the last eleven matches against the Buckeyes, with Ohio State’s last win occurring on Oct. 29, 2022. 

Following Saturday’s match, the Nebraska rifle team stays on the road to face Ole Miss and Memphis in Oxford, Miss., on Saturday, Oct. 10. On Sunday, Oct. 11, NU will have a duel against Memphis in Memphis, Tenn. Both matches will start at 8 a.m. (CT).
