NU Dominates Husker Invitational, Preps For UTR Pro Tournament

The Nebraska women’s tennis team wrapped up the Husker Invitational on Sunday and will stay in Lincoln to compete in the UTR Pro Tour Tournament from Sept. 28-Oct. 2 at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center.

NU excelled over the weekend in its home competition, going 18-3 overall as a team, including a 12-3 record in singles and an undefeated 6-0 record in doubles play. Katie Spencer and Conley Raidt both saw undefeated weekends, with 3-0 records each in singles, and pairing up for a 3-0 record in doubles. The Cornhuskers also saw an undefeated day on Sunday, winning all seven of their matches to wrap up the tournament.

Up Next: UTR Pro Tour Tournament

The UTR Tournament layout will feature a 16-person main draw consisting of four groups with four players in each group. The group stage will run on Monday and Tuesday, with the players playing two matches on one day. The playoff stage is two rounds and will consist of four draws of four players, depending on the players’ finish within the group, and runs on Wednesday and Thursday. Athletes who win their semifinal match will advance to the final of their playoff bracket, and losers of the semifinal will play a match to determine third and fourth place within their playoff bracket.

Six Huskers will be competing in the tournament, as Raidt, Spencer, Rahimkhani, Rizzetto, Coe and Maria Taranova will return to competition.
