Huskers Capitalize In Finals With Titles From Cohen And York

Lincoln, Neb. — Nebraska had four gymnasts finish in the top three at the 2026 Big Ten Championships event finals on April 4 at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Max Odden won the all-around title on Day 1 of the competition on April 3.

Asher Cohen won the rings title, and Nathan York won the parallel bars title. Caden Clinton finished second on parallel bars, and Luke James earned bronze medals on both floor and vault. Nebraska’s motto for the season was “For Jim,” honoring Jim Hartung, who died at the start of the season, and the Huskers produced four event winners.

Nebraska had two gymnasts compete in the floor finals. Chase Mondi scored a 13.025 and placed ninth. James notched a 13.675 to finish third.

The Huskers had three gymnasts compete in the pommel horse finals, the most of any team. Nik Tarca scored a 12.85 and tied for ninth place. Wyatt Reynolds recorded a career-high 13.70 to place sixth. Clinton finished with a 13.775 for fifth place.

Nebraska had three gymnasts compete in the rings finals. Sam Rakita recorded a 13.50 and placed fourth. Odden notched a 12.65 and finished ninth. Cohen scored a 14.125 to win the Big Ten title on rings.

Two Nebraska athletes competed in the vault finals. Mondi received a 13.425 and placed seventh. James finished third with a score of 14.00.

The Huskers had two gymnasts compete in the parallel bars finals. Clinton recorded a 13.575 for second place. York scored a 14.275 to win the Big Ten title on parallel bars.

Nebraska had two gymnasts compete in the high bar finals. Odden received an 11.30 and placed 10th. Nitache finished with a 12.45 for seventh place.

Nebraska will travel to Champaign, Ill., for the NCAA Gymnastics Championships on April 17-18. The qualifying portion of the meet will be streamed on ESPN+, while the finals will air on ESPN2.
