The Nebraska track and field team concluded Drake Relays with 10 overall titles as Ela Velepec claimed the women’s high jump title in the Championship Division.

Berlyn Schutz was the top-finishing collegiate athlete of the Grand Blue Mile, the signature event of Drake Relays, running 4:27.30. Her time is the third-fastest outdoor mile in NCAA history and a new lifetime best for Schutz.

The high jump duo of Velepec and Karsyn Leeling both cleared 1.83m (6-0) in the Championship Division, placing first and second, respectively.

Cade Moran was the top-placing collegian in the men’s shot put WACT Division, throwing 19.95m (65-5 ½).

In the women’s 4x100m relay final, the Huskers ran the 10th-fastest time in school history, crossing the line in 44.31 to finish second.

The Husker women’s 4x400m relay team ran 3:32.46 to claim third in the University Division, and move into fifth in school history.

In the men’s hammer throw UD/CD, Seth Schnakenberg (63.71m, 209-0) and Brett Schwartz (63.50m, 208-4) claimed second and third, respectively.

On the men’s side, James Ledbetter, Jacorric Allen, Kavian Kerr and Richard Simpson clocked a 3:08.53 to earn a third-place finish of their own.

The Big Red will return to action next weekend, May 2nd, in the Desert Heat Classic at the University of Arizona.
