Huskers Take on No. 39 Michigan in First Round of Big Ten Tournament

Written byZac Arens

After concluding its regular season, the Nebraska men’s tennis team will head to Ojai, California, this week to compete at the Big Ten Men’s Tennis Tournament at Libbey Park. The Huskers (11-13) enter as the 10th seed to take on No. 7 seed Michigan (13-9) in a first-round matchup on Wednesday, April 22 at 4 p.m. (CT) in the single-elimination tournament.

Nebraska hopes to take a match back from Michigan after the Huskers fell 4-1 earlier in the season vs. the No. 52 Wolverines. In that match, Michigan won the doubles point taking wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles and then winning three singles matches to take the match. Nebraska was able to get a point on the board after a two-set win from freshman Jeri Lassila at No. 3 singles.

NU is making its 14th Big Ten Tournament appearance in a row and looks to make the quarterfinals for the sixth straight season.
