2025-26: Freshman 
In his first season of collegiate tennis, Jeri Lassila played at the No. 3 and 4 spots in singles as a vital piece of the spring lineup. The freshman put togther 14 singles wins, tied for the most on the team, with wins vs. Texas Tech, Michigan (x2), Northwestern and Washington. After in 8-0 start to his first sping season in both doubles and singles, Lassila was named Co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week (Jan. 28) making it his second time to win the award in his freshman season when he went 2-2 in the fall at the ITA Central Regional Championships. In doubles, he had an 8-8 record pairing up with Colson Wells, Joan Torres Espinosa and Nikolay Sysoev. 

Off the court, Lassila was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. 

Joining the Huskers
The Finland native committed to the Huskers in the summer of 2025 and started his freshman sesason in the fall of 2025-26. 

“We are really excited to have Jeri joining the team,” Kobelt said. “The goals that we’ve set for the program are ambitious, so it was important for us with this recruiting class we found players that think like us.

“Jeri is great at tennis but what stood out to us the most was his strong mentality. We’ll look for him to come in and be a great Husker student-athlete on the court, in the classroom and in the community.”                                                                                                                     

Before Nebraska
He was one of the top juniors in Europe. Lassila participated in numerous amounts of tournaments and had his best results in the J30 Portimao and J60 Vierumaki where he reached the singles semifinals in both of those tournaments. He currently holds an ITF ranking of 1134. 

Personal
The son of Irmeli and Tommi Lassila, Jeri is planning on majoring in business administration. He has an older brother named Robi.
