Huskers Down Iowa 4-1 on Senior Day

The No. 45 Nebraska women’s tennis team topped Iowa by a score of 4-1 in its final home match of the season on Saturday. The Huskers (15-6, 7-4 Big Ten) closed out their homestand going 3-1 over the four-match stretch. 

The Huskers grabbed two doubles and three singles victories over the Hawkeyes (10-12, 4-7 Big Ten), while dropping just one singles match.

Afternoon action began with doubles at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center. No. 38 Conley Raidt and Katie Spencer paired up on court one, Reya Lee Coe and Natalia Trigosso squadded on court three and Yuzu Miyoshi and Emma Rizzetto teamed up on court five. Miyoshi and Rizzetto were the first duo to finish, defeating Vishwase/Kranholdt by a score of 6-3, in Miyoshi’s final home match as a Husker. Quickly after, No. 38 Raidt/Spencer clinched the doubles point with another ranked victory over No. 68 Mack/Hayashida. 

After closing out doubles play with the point, the Big Red took the court for singles. The Huskers were the first to strike, as Spencer topped Dejnozkova, 6-4, 6-2 on court two. Maria Taranova dropped her match on court one, falling to No. 62 Mack, 6-0, 1-6, 6-0. Tiziana Rossini pushed Nebraska’s lead to 3-1 after defeating Kranholdt, 6-4, 7-5. Raidt battled to stay alive on court three, allowing Rizzetto to clinch the 4-1 victory over the Hawkeyes with her straight-set win against Tothova on court four. 

UP NEXT

NU will travel north for a pair of matches against Wisconsin and Minnesota on April 17 and 19. The Huskers will face off against the Badgers on Friday at 6 p.m. (CT), and then travel to the Twin Cities to take on the Golden Gophers at Noon (CT) on Sunday for the final match of the regular season.
