The No. 4 Nebraska rifle team stands in first place after day one of the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships on Saturday. The Huskers shot a score of 2,364 as a team in the smallbore on the first day of competition.
No. 4 NU currently sits in first with a 2,364, closely followed by No. 3 TCU with a score of 2,361, and No. 5 Ole Miss which shot a score of 2,357.
“I’m very happy with how the team performed today,” Head Coach Richard Clark said. “We knew it would be a very close match against some very talented teams where every shot mattered. The team stuck to their fundamentals and remained grounded in the high stress environment leading to some really great performances across the board. Putting three of our athletes into the individual final was great to see today as well. They battled hard till the end coming up just short of the medals. While today closed out the conference smallbore championship the work is not yet done with air rifle tomorrow.”
Freshman Carley Seabrooke led the team with her score of 593. Seabrooke was followed closely behind by Alivia Perkins with a mark of 592, and Emma Rhode with a score of 591. Maddy Moyer and Katlyn Sullivan rounded out the lineup for the Big Red, both shooting scores of 588.
Scores by Seabrooke, Perkins and Rhode were good enough to qualify them for the smallbore finals. Seabrooke grabbed fourth with a score of 441.3, Rhode followed in fifth with her mark of 431, and Perkins placed sixth with a score of 417.
Nebraska will wrap up the PRC Championships tomorrow as they will compete in the air rifle portion of the competition on Sunday, Feb. 8, at The X-Count in Fort Wayne, Ind. The match will start at 7 a.m. (CT).
