Huskers Dominate Wildcats Saturday

The Nebraska women’s tennis team defeated Abilene Christian, 4-0, in a Saturday afternoon dual in Wichita, Kan., at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex.

The Huskers (6-2) grabbed two doubles matches and three singles matches. 

NU’s second dual of the weekend began with doubles at 12 p.m. (CT). Emma Rizzetto and Tiziana Rossini teamed up on court one against Cascos/Vrsalovic. On court two, Catherine Gagnon and Katie Spencer faced off against Correa/Del Campo, and Reya Lee Coe paired up on court three against Board/Luthar. Coe and Miyoshi started the day defeating Board/Luthar, 6-2, and Gagnon Spencer followed quickly behind, besting Correa/Del Campo, 6-2, securing the doubles point for the Big Red. 

Heading into singles up 1-0, Nebraska took the courts by storm, with Coe quickly grabbing the first singles point for the Huskers, defeating Luthar, 6-2, 6-3 on court five. On court six, Trigosso defeated Board by a score of 6-3. Spencer bested Cascos on court two, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, which secured the 4-0 sweep for the Big Red on Saturday. 

UP NEXT

Nebraska will take a week off from competition before traveling to Charleston, S.C., for a pair of matches against College of Charleston and Charleston Southern on Friday, Feb. 20, and Sunday, Feb. 22. Both matches will begin at noon (CT).
