The Nebraska women’s tennis team defeated the Charleston Southern Buccaneers, 4-0, in a Sunday afternoon dual in Charleston, S.C. The Huskers finish out non-conference play with a 7-2 record.
NU grabbed two doubles matches and three singles matches throughout the day.
Sunday’s dual began with doubles at the Gary Clark Banks Sr. Tennis Center. Emma Rizzetto and Tiziana Rossini teamed up on court one, Katie Spencer and Catherine Gagnon played together on court two, and Reya Lee Coe and Yuzu Miyoshi squadded up on court three. Miyoshi/Coe started off duals play, defeating A. Botha/C. Botha, 6-3. Rizzetto/Rossini clinched the doubles point for the Big Red with their 6-3 victory over Skegro/Farres. Spencer/Gagnon led 5-4 against Yoris/Molina, but the match was left unfinished.
NU was up 1-0 going into singles play, where Rossini quickly defeated A. Botha, 6-0, 6-4 to secure the first singles point for the Huskers on court four. Maria Taranova then swiftly defeated Skegro in straight sets on court one, 6-1, 6-1. Natalia Trigosso on court six clinched the 4-0 Nebraska victory, defeating C. Botha, 6-2, 6-1.

Nebraska will have a weekend off before beginning Big Ten play at home against Illinois on Friday, March 6, at 5 p.m. (CT). The Huskers will then face off against Northwestern on Sunday, March 8 at Noon (CT). Both matches will be played at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center.
