Nebraska Dominates Ohio State in NCAA Qualifiers

The No. 2 Nebraska rifle team defeated No. 12 Ohio State, 4,744-4,682, on Saturday in its NCAA Qualifier match in Columbus, Ohio.

Today’s score makes up half of the score that determines if teams qualify for the NCAA Championships, and it will be combined with the average of Nebraska’s top three team scores at different locations from this season. Those scores are 4,758 (PRC Championships, 2/7-8/26), 4,749 (at Army, 10/25/25), and 4,747 (at TCU, 11/1/25). Nebraska has a qualifying score of 9495.33.

NU placed four shooters in the top five overall. Carley Seabrooke led the match with an aggregate score of 1,189. Katlyn Sullivan and Emma Rhode placed second and third respectively with scores of 1,187. The tiebreaker was determined by the amount of 10-point shots by each athlete. Alivia Perkins rounded out Nebraska’s top five placements in fourth place with a mark of 1,180.

“I’m happy with how the team performed today,” Head Coach Richard Clark said. “Out of the gates we struggled to control the moment drifting from our fundamentals but bounced back well once we got on our feet. It was great to see Emma lead the way in air rifle firing her second 600 of the year! It was also fun watching Carley and Katlyn continue their strong performances this spring. As we get back to the range next week we will continue to build on the lessons we learned today in preparation for NCAA Championships.”

The Huskers took up each of the top four spots in the smallbore, shooting a team score of 2,355. Seabrooke and Sullivan grabbed first and second, shooting scores of 592 and 590 respectively. Rhode placed third with a mark of 587, and Maddy Moyer followed closely behind in fourth with her score of 586. Perkins (sixth, 585) and Camilla Johannessen (11th, 575) rounded out the smallbore lineup for the Big Red.

Nebraska also placed four of the top four shooters in the air rifle on the way to a team score of 2,389. Rhode took first place, shooting a perfect score of 600 for just the second time in school history. Sullivan and Seabrooke placed second and third respectively, both shooting scores of 597. Perkins shot a mark of 595 to earn fourth place. Moyer (seventh, 592) and Johannessen (12th, 582) rounded out the air rifle lineup.

The selection show for the NCAA Championships will air live on https://www.ncaa.com at 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23. The championships will take place on March 13-14 in Columbus, Ohio.
