NU Blows Past Air Force

Nebraska men’s tennis (6-0) routed Air Force, 4-0, on Sunday, Feb. 1 at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center in Lincoln, Neb. The win was the Huskers' fourth sweep of the season. 

In doubles play, the Huskers fell behind as Nikolay Sysoev/Matt Shearer (NEB) dropped their match to Jack Brown/Tyler Leaird (AF), 2-6 at No. 1 doubles. On court three, Colson Wells/Jeri Lassila have won back to back matches as a doubles pair defeating Phillip Deaton/Alec Fritzinger (AF), 6-2. On court two, Henry Lamchinniah/Leo Linquet (NEB) took their match vs. AJ Moore/Langdon Tingleaf (AF), 6-4 to be awarded the doubles point. 

Going into singles play, Nebraska led Air Force, 1-0. 

As singles play began, the Huskers jumped out to a blazing start winning the first set on every court. Niels van der Sijs was the first one to add a point for the Huskers winning 6-2, 6-3 vs. Matthew Staton. Linquet followed closely behind him taking his match 6-2, 6-1 against Phillip Deaton. 

Lassila went another weekend undefeated, winning his match 6-2, 6-2. The freshman has gone 6-0 in singles play and 5-0 in doubles to help the Huskers improve to 6-0.

UP NEXT

Nebraska will stay home and play back-to-back days taking on Ole Miss on Saturday, Feb. 7 at Noon (CT) and North Dakota Sunday, Feb. 8 with the time TBA. Both matches will be played at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center in Lincoln. 

Home duals will be hosted at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center, where parking and admission are free. Concessions will be available with no outside food or drink allowed.
