Scarlet and Cream Stay Strong on Third Day of Midseason

Nebraska swimming and diving ends its third day at the Hawkeye Invitational with several notable swimming performances. The team has amassed 853.5 points and remains ranked first heading into the final day of competition on Friday, Nov. 21. 

Beatrix Tanko recorded her second school record of the meet with her swim in the 100 butterfly with a 52.03. Last year at the 2025 Big Ten Championships, Tanko logged a 52.72 in the event, surpassing Anna Vlachou's previous time of 52.63. 

Jazmyn Lunn, a sophomore from Brookings, S.D. garnered a career-best in the 200 free with her swim in the C finals. She added a 20th-place, 1:50.36 finish, crushing her personal best by just over five seconds. 

The two-time All-American, Gena Jorgenson recorded a second-place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 4:14.20. She earlier grabbed a time of 4:15.19 during the event’s prelims, enough to earn a first-place position. Jorgenson also swam in the 200 free, where she nabbed a career-best with her fourth-place, 1:47.64 swim.

Newcomer Aurora Zanin added a top-five performance in the 400 IM. The Vittorio Veneto, Italy native notched a 4:19.71, enough to earn a fifth-place finish. Also in her second year, Riley Miklos mustered a lifetime-best performance in the 200 freestyle event with a 1:47.80, fifth-place swim. 

A team of Virginia Consiglio, Amelia Riggott, Beatrix Tanko, and Giulia Marchi swam their way to a fourth-place finish in the 400 medley relay. Consiglio, the sophomore from Genova, Italy swam a split of 54.27 in the 100 back to lead the Huskers in the relay. The team finished the race in 3:40.42. 

Abby Baxter, Frankie Webb and Addy Farman added scores on the three-meter board. Baxter, the junior from Coppell, Texas came in fourth with a score of 319.60. Hailing from Cambridge, England, Webb harnessed a seventh-place finish with 271.40. Finally, the freshman from Snohomish, Wash., logged 262.10 on the board to cap the diving competition. 

The final day of the Hawkeye Invite is Friday, Nov. 21 with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. (CT). Trials for the 1,650 free are slated to begin at approximately 2:15 p.m., with the slowest heats going first. The final events will begin at 4:00 p.m. and feature the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 400 freestyle relay, and platform diving.
