Huskers Face National Competition in Missouri

The Nebraska men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to Columbia Mo. for the Pre-Nationals Meet on Friday Oct. 17th. First on the course this morning was the women’s team, which placed 18th in the 6k with a team score of 512. The men competed second and placed 27th in the 8k with 739 points as a team.

Ali Bainbridge finished first for the Huskers and placed 24th with a time of 20:03.9. Next across for Nebraska was Alexandra Joyce (96th, 21:03.3) and Alea Hardie (107th, 21:09.8). Berlyn Schutz was fourth across the line for the Huskers in 135th place with a time of 21:21.9. Finishing up the women’s scoring line up was Jaylee Wingate (195th, 21:53.6). BYU won the women’s race with 25 points, followed by Villanova with 170 points and Missouri finished third overall with 216 points.

First across the finish line for the men was Rico Leijenaar in 72nd place with a time of 24:23.0. He was followed by Dennis Chapman (115th, 24:53.5), Grant Wasserman (187th, 25:36.4), and Gabe Nash (230th, 26:10.9). Jack Witte completed the scoring line up in 246th place with a time of 26:53.4. First place in the men’s team competition was Georgia with 119 points. They were followed by Missouri in second with 164 points and Ole Miss was third with 178 points.

Next Up: The Huskers will travel to East Lansing, Mich. for Big Ten Championships on Friday, Oct. 31st.
