Four Huskers shot their way into the top 25 on the first day to help the Nebraska women's golf team to a tie for third heading to Tuesday's final round of the Sam Golden Invitational in Corinth, Texas,
Newcomer Jessica Jolly played into the top 10 in her Husker debut through 36 holes on the 6,343-yard layout of the Oakmont Country Club. Jolly, a sophomore transfer from Illinois State, opened with 70 (-2) before following with a second-round 69 (-3). The All-Missouri Valley Conference competitor as a freshman closed the day in eighth place individually at 139 (-5).
Redshirt senior Brooke Bream also played well in her Nebraska lineup debut. The fifth-year Husker from Phoenix unleashed back-to-back career-best rounds of 70 (-2) to move to Tuesday's final round in a tie for 12th at 140 (-4).
Junior Hannah Kono matched Bream stroke for stroke on the day to sit in a tie for 12th with 140 (-4). Kono began her second season as a Husker with a 69 (-3) before adding a 71 (-1) in the second round.
Sophomore Danica Lundgren used Nebraska's best round of the day with a second-round 67 (-5) to vault 25 spots up the leaderboard and head to the final round in 22nd at 141 (-3). Lundgren, a second-year Husker from Austin, Texas, opended the day with the only above par round (74) NU had to count toward its team score.
The Big Red started the day with a 283 (-5), before putting up an impressive 277 (-11) in the second round to end the afternoon at 560 (-16) in a tie with Tulsa for third in a 13-team field. The leaders from Missouri (552) sit eight strokes ahead of the Huskers after putting up the best round of the day with a 271 (-17) in the second round. Louisville is just two shots ahead of NU at 558 (-18) through 36 holes, as the Cardinals' opening-round 277 (-11) matched Nebraska's second-round total for the second-best team round of the day.
Nebraska's second-round 277 (-11) under first-year Head Coach Breanne Hall marked its best team round since also producing a 277 in the final round of the 2023 Westbrook Spring Invitational.
True freshman Ailis Tribolet managed rounds of 76 and 75 in her collegiate debut. She moves to Tuesday's final round in 69th at 151 (+7), while fellow freshman Kaleigh Babineaux added a 147 (+3) to sit in 56th through 36 holes. Babineaux, who is playing as an individual outside Nebraska's lineup, carded a 71 (-1) in the second round after opening with a 76.
Tuesday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. (CT).
