The Nebraska rifle team will open the 2025-26 season against Ohio State this Saturday, Sep. 27. The match will start at 8 a.m. (CT) and will be held at Nebraska Rifle Range in Lincoln, Neb. The Huskers return to Pershing Rifle Range after a season away due to renovations. Attendance is free for fans. Results can be found here.
“This weekend's match will be extra special being the first home match we’ve had in our range since February 2024," said Head Coach Richard Clark. “With recent renovations, the Nebraska Rifle Range has an entirely new look featuring 12 megalink targets, new sound deadening walls and ceiling, new command center and much improved lighting. It is everything our athletes need to continue to develop along with allowing us to recruit top talents across the country. We are very excited to showcase it to our visiting teams this year and look to do much more with it in the future!”
NU is ranked No. 11 in the preseason College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) poll after not qualifying for last year’s NCAA Championships. The Huskers finished the 2024-25 season at No. 10 in the CRCA poll.
Saturday’s match against the Buckeyes will be the first of nine regular-season matches for the Big Red, seven of which take place during the fall portion of the season. Nebraska will have two regular-season matches in the spring before moving into championship season with the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships, NCAA Qualifiers and NCAA Championships.
Clark enters his second season with the Huskers after going 12-6 in the 2024-25 season.
“We are excited to be getting the 25-26 season underway,” said Clark. “The team has been hard at work for the last month refining their skills to be ready to compete with some of the nation's best as our season unfolds. With a strong returning group and some very talented newcomers to the roster this year, this group is poised to do some really special things. This Saturday will be their first test to go out and perform just like we have been in practice, staying true to who we are.”
NU has faced Ohio State 31 times and won 22 of those matchups, including a 4,692-4,688 win over the Buckeyes at the NCAA Qualifiers on Feb. 22, 2025.
Nebraska returns five shooters from last season’s team, including senior team captain Emma Rhode, who is looking toward another record-breaking year. Rhode earned first-team CRCA All-American honors in the aggregate and smallbore and earned an honorable-mention selection in the air rifle. Rhode qualified as an individual for the 2025 NCAA Championships for the smallbore.
Team captain Camilla Johannessen also returns for her final season with the Huskers. Johannessen competed in every match last season for the Huskers and claimed two third-place finishes in the air rifle. She also posted season-high scores of 585 in the smallbore, 595 in the air rifle, and 1,180 in the aggregate, all three of which either tied or surpassed her previous season highs.
Sophomore Grace Corbett logged personal bests of 576 in the smallbore and 594 in the air rifle in her first season with the Big Red. Corbett posted averages of 565.50 in the smallbore and 585.23 in the air rifle throughout the 2024-25 season.
Maddy Moyer was a mainstay in the lineup as a freshman, shooting season highs of 591 in the smallbore and 597 in the air rifle, which qualified her for the NCAA Championships in both events. An honorable-mention All-American in the smallbore, Moyer earned 12 top-three event finishes, including a pair of first-place showings in 2024-25.
Alivia Perkins also looks toward a strong sophomore season after registering personal bests of 588 in the smallbore, 597 in the air rifle, and 1,180 in the aggregate. Perkins posted averages of 580.92 in the smallbore and 593.23 in the air rifle. Her score of 597 in the air rifle at the Roger Withrow Invitational tied a single-match freshman class record in the event.
NU will also brings back Charlie Mick, who returns after a break from the team in 2024-25. Mick started her career strong with the Huskers in 2023-24, shooting personal bests of 588 in the smallbore, 597 in the air rifle, and 1,180 in the aggregate. That season, she posted the third-highest air rifle average on the team with her score of 590.77.
Nebraska adds three freshmen for the 2025-26 season in Hannah Gallagher, Carley Seabrooke, and Katlyn Sullivan. Gallagher is a three-time Junior Olympic qualifier and competed in the 2023 Olympic Trials. That same year, Gallagher was the USAS New York State Champion in the three-position smallbore. In 2024, she was also a USAS New York State Silver Medalist in the smallbore and a bronze medalist in the air rifle.
Seabrooke brings a long list of accolades with her to the Big Red. She was a four-time Alabama state champion in the three-position smallbore from 2022-2025 and a three-time state champion in standing air rifle from 2023-2025. Seabrooke was also a Smallbore Dixie Challenge Alabama State Champion from 2023-25. In 2024, Seabrooke set a new national record at the South Eastern Regional Championship with her score of 200/20x.
Sullivan was a GHSA Individual State Champion in 2024 and 2025 and was the Statesboro Herald 2024-25 Co-Female Player of the Year. She was a four-time qualifier for the National Junior Olympics Championships in the air rifle and was a two-time qualifier in the smallbore in 2024 and 2025. Sullivan also was a State Junior Olympic champion in both smallbore and air rifle in 2025.
Following the match with Ohio State, the Huskers will stay at home for their second match of the season against UAB on Saturday, Oct. 11.
