Huskers Post Third Straight Draw on Sunday

The Husker defense held No. 22 Ohio State to nine shots, and the Nebraska soccer team drew a 0-0 tie with the Buckeyes on Sunday.

The Huskers moved to 5-0-5 (0-0-3 Big Ten) and have not taken a loss yet this season. NU’s five draws is tied for the most in program history and is tied for second in the country. Ohio State moved to 4-1-4 on the season with a 0-0-3 mark in conference play.

Nebraska totaled a season-high 27 shots, but could not convert on offense. The Big Red logged seven shots on goal, including three from Reagan Raabe and two from Ava Makovicka. Sadie Waite and Jo Sees each added a shot on target. The Huskers also had seven corner kick opportunities.

Sees and Raabe had on-target attempts in the last six minutes of the match, but both were saved by the Buckeye goalkeeper.

Cece Villa (4-0-5) played the whole game in goal for the Huskers and registered her fourth shutout of the season. She also contributed three saves in the net.

Defenders Karli Williams and Lauryn Anglim both played all 90 minutes for Nebraska.

The Big Red will return to Barbara Hibner Stadium for a match against the Michigan Wolverines on Thursday, Sept. 25. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. (CT) and the game will be streamed on B1G+.
