The Nebraska men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete at the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational this Saturday, Sept. 20 at Mahoney Park Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb. This event is set to begin at 10 a.m. (CT).
Last Time Out
The Huskers traveled to Ashland, Neb., to compete in the Platte River Rumble. The women’s team placed second in the 5k with 68 points. Alea Hardie placed sixth to lead the women, finishing at 17:41.62. Jaylee Wingate followed her with a time of 17:44.74 and came in seventh and Erin Moore was 16th with a 18:08.46. Jordyn Brown (17th, 18:08.51) and Kate Ebmeier (23rd, 18:14.85) were next across the line to complete the scoring lineup for the Huskers.
Rico Leijenaar led the men’s team, which finished sixth with 167 points, with a time of 18:13.79 and an 11th-place finish. Dennis Chapman (20th, 18:27.68), Riley Boonstra (39th, 18:55.74), Gabe Nash (52nd, 19:08.59) and Kaleb Sharp (19:49.46) rounded out the lineup.
Greeno/Dirksen History
The 2025 season marks the 35th annual Greeno/Dirksen meet, which began in 1990, when Nebraska and Nebraska Wesleyan combined meets.
The Nebraska women have won 19 titles, while the men have placed first 13 times. Last year, in 2024, the women brought home first while the men followed up with second place.
