Bohonek Scores in Huskers’ 1-1 Draw

Freshman Carson Bohonek logged her first career goal in the Nebraska soccer team’s 1-1 tie with the Oklahoma State Cowgirls in Stillwater, Okla., on Thursday night.

Bohonek’s goal came with less than 10 minutes left in the game, assisted by a well-placed cross from Kayma Carpenter

NU moved to 1-0-2 on the season, while the Cowgirls went to 1-1-1.

The Huskers took 15 shots, including eight on goal. Reagan Raabe and Ella Rudney each took two shots on goal. Bohonek’s score was her only shot of the night. Goalkeeper Cece Villa played all 90 minutes, her second-straight complete game this season. Villa notched two saves and claimed the tie to go to 0-0-2.

Nebraska had five corner kick opportunities in the first half, but Oklahoma State recorded five saves to keep the score at 0-0 going into the break.

The Big Red held a 1-0 lead with 6:51 left to go in the match, but a penalty kick goal from OSU’s Xcaret Pineda tied the game.

Ava Makovicka took a shot at the last second, but it was just wide right.

Nebraska will return to Barbara Hibner Stadium for a game against Weber State on Thursday, Aug. 28. The game is set to start at 7:05 p.m. and will be streamed on B1G+. Fans can purchase tickets at huskers.com/tickets.
