Four Huskers to Play in NBA 2K26 Summer League

Four former Huskers will be in action in NBA 2K26 Summer League in Las Vegas later this month. Rookies Brice Williams will play for the Detroit Pistons while Juwan Gary will suit up for the Los Angeles Clippers. Keisei Tominaga and Jack McVeigh will be suited up for the Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks respectively, as both will also make their summer league debuts. The event runs from July 10-July 20 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on the UNLV campus. A full schedule for the Huskers in action is listed at the bottom of the release.

Williams, who signed with the Pistons following the NBA Draft, spent two seasons as a Husker guiding Nebraska to consecutive postseason appearances in 2024-25. Last season, Williams put together one of the best seasons in program history, as he averaged 20.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game in leading Nebraska to a 21-14 record and the first-ever College Basketball Crown championship. A first-team All-Big Ten and all-district honoree, Williams’ 20.4 points per game was the highest average by a Husker since Tyronn Lue in 1997-98 and just the eighth time in school history a Husker had averaged 20 points per game. Williams had four 30-point games, including a school-record 43-point performance at Ohio State. His 713 points broke NU’s single-season scoring mark, while he also finished in the top five on single-season charts in free throws made (189, second), free throw percentage (.883, fourth), free throw attempts (214, fifth) and minutes played (1,192, fourth).  In 2023-24, he helped the Huskers to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014, averaging 13.4 points 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He finished his two-year Husker career with 1,168 points and totaled 1,969 career points including his three seasons at Charlotte.

Gary was a three-year starter for the Huskers, helping Nebraska to consecutive 20-win seasons and postseason appearances in 2023-24 and 2024-25. The 6-foot-6 forward enjoyed a strong senior season, averaging a career-best 14.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He topped the Huskers in blocked shots and finished second on the team in scoring, rebounding and steals per game, while setting career bests in 3-point percentage and free throw percentage. Gary closed his college career by being named the College Basketball Crown MVP, as he averaged 19.0 points and 8.0 rebounds to lead Nebraska to the CBC title. He had a pair of 20-point efforts in the event, including 21 points and nine rebounds in the semifinal win over Boise State and 20 points and eight caroms against UCF in the title game. In all, Gary had 10 20-point games as a senior, including a career-high 27-point outing against USC. As a junior, he was instrumental in helping Nebraska to 23 wins and the school’s first NCAA appearance since 2014, as he averaged 11.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. He had five double-doubles, including a 13-point,18-rebound effort in a win at Kansas State. Gary, who started 17 games before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury in 2022-23, totaled 996 points and 460 rebounds in three seasons as a Husker and totaled 1,299 career points which includes a pair of seasons at Alabama.

Tominaga appeared in 14 games with the Indiana Mad Ants, the Pacers’ G League affiliate in 2024-25, averaging 5.4 points per game. He shot 46.9 percent from 3-poine range and had three double-figure efforts off the bench, including a season-high 17 points against Birmingham. He was also selected to play in the NBA G League Up Next Game during all-star weekend. Tominaga spent the past three seasons at Nebraska, totaling 1,074 points to rank 30th on Nebraska’s career scoring list while finishing seventh on NU’s career 3-point list with 178. A two-time All-Big Ten honoree, he enjoyed his best season in 2023-24, averaging 15.1 points per game while posting career highs in nearly every offensive category enroute to second-team All-Big Ten honors.  His efforts helped Nebraska to a 23-11 record in 2023-24 and a third-place Big Ten finish

McVeigh, who was picked up by the Hawks for the Summer League, spent his rookie season with the Houston Rockets after signing a two-way contract prior to the 2024 Paris Olympics. He played nine games for the Rockets in 2024-25, splitting time with the team's G League franchise, and averaged 1.6 ppg in spot duty. He appeared in 34 games for Rio Grande Valley, averaging 16.2 ppg on 44 percent shooting, including 37 percent from 3-point range. McVeigh had a strong performance in the 2024 Olympics, averaging 9.5 points per game on 52 percent shooting, including 10-of-19 (.526) from 3-point range. McVeigh played three seasons at Nebraska before returning home to begin his professional career. His best year was in 2016-17, when he averaged 7.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game in 30 games, including 11 starts. He was a member of the Huskers’ 2017-18 team that won 23 games, including a school record 13 conference games.

After every team plays four games from July 10-17, the top four teams will advance to the playoffs, beginning with a semifinal doubleheader on July 19 on ESPN. The two winning teams from the semifinal games will meet in the championship game on July 20 on ESPN. The four playoff teams will be determined by winning percentage in each team’s first four games. The 26 teams that do not advance to the four-team playoffs will play a fifth game on either July 18, July 19 or July 20.
