Lincoln, Neb. - Behind winning the doubles point and three-straight singles matches, the Nebraska women’s tennis team (11-8, Big Ten 2-6) defeated Penn State (5-13 Big Ten 4-4) 4-0 on Friday afternoon.
Action started with doubles play and the Huskers came out firing as No. 75 Raphaëlle Lacasse and Maja Pietrowicz defeated Chekhlystova and Zuffova 6-2 on Court 1. Ana Zamburek and Anfisa Danilchenko defeated Karly Friedland and Olivia Donner 6-3 at the No. 2 spot to earn the doubles point. Lucy Loy and Isabel Adrover Gallego’s match on Court Three was left unfinished, and the teams started singles.
In singles, Adrover Gallego took a quick 6-0, 6-1 victory over Zuffova on Court Three. With the 2-0 lead, Danilchenko secured another straight-set victory on Court Two, 6-1, 6-0. On Court Four, Pietrowicz clinched the fourth point and the win for NU, 6-4, 6-0. Lacasse, Zamburek and Roa’s matches were left unfinished.
Up next, the Huskers will be back in action on Sunday, April 14 at 11 a.m. (CT) as they host No. 16 Ohio State for Senior Day.
