Huskers Drop Match to #26 Baylor, 4-1

Lincoln, Neb. - Ana Zamburek clinched a singles win, but it was not enough as the Nebraska women’s tennis team (9-4) fell to #26 Baylor (12-5) 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

Action started with doubles against the Bears. Anfisa Danilchenko and Zamburek battled on Court Three against Baylor’s Liubov Kostenko and Isabella Harvison, but fell 6-2. Isa Adrover Gallego and Miska Kadleckova were tied with BU’s Miska Kadleckova and Zuzanna Frankeowska 3-3 before Baylor won the next three out of four, topping the Huskers 6-4 and claiming the doubles point. On Court One, Raphaelle Lacasse and Maja Pietrowicz were trailing 3-5 when the match was called.

With Baylor leading 1-0, singles play started. The Huskers claimed the first set in two matches as Zamburek (Court Four) and Pietrowicz (Court Three) got on top early. Baylor took the opening set on Courts One, Two, Five and Six. NU evened the match 1-1 as Zamburek won the second set 6-4 and topped Sierra Berry. Baylor then took a 2-1 lead with Loy falling 6-2, 6-1 to Kubacha on Court Five. The Bears extended their lead to 3-1 as #101 Kadleckova bested Lacasse 6-2, 6-3 on Court One before clinching the win on Court Two over Adrover Gallego, 6-2, 7-6 (3). Courts Three and Six were left unfinished.
