Huskers Welcome Drake Saturday, Omaha Sunday

Lincoln, Neb. - On a five-match win streak, the Nebraska women’s tennis team (7-1, 0-0 Big Ten) looks to continue its success as NU hosts Drake on Saturday, March 2 at 12 p.m. (CT) and Omaha on Sunday, March 3 at 1 p.m. Both matches will be live-streamed on Playsight, and stats will be available on huskers.com. Match updates will be posted on X/Twitter at HuskerWTennis.
 
Scouting Drake  (3-5, 0-0 Missouri Valley)

  • The Bulldogs won the Missouri Valley Championship last season before falling to Iowa State in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Their season was highlighted by an eight-match winning streak. 
  • Drake is led by Head Coach Breaunna Addison in her first season. 
    This year, the Bulldogs have wins over Milwaukee (4-0), Marquette (7-0) and Omaha (6-1). 

Series History vs. Drake 

  • Nebraska looks to get its 10th all-time win over Drake, as NU leads the series 9-1.
  • Most recently, the Huskers last faced the Bulldogs in 2019 where the Huskers won 4-0.

Scouting Omaha (6-8, 0-0 Summit League) 

  • Omaha is coming off a loss over Creighton after winning three-straight matches
  • The Mavericks consists of one graduate student, three seniors, three juniors, two sophomores and one freshman. 
  • UNO’s roster is led by freshmen Khayli Buckels who is 9-4 on the season.
  • Omaha will face their first conference match against South Dakota on Saturday before heading to Nebraska on Sunday.

Series History vs. Omaha

  • The Huskers are 8-0 against Omaha, and NU last defeated the Mavericks 7-0 in 2022.

Quick Notes 

  • Nebraska is undefeated on Courts 1, 4 and 6, and individually, Maja Pietrowicz, Ana Zamburek, Lucy Loy and Raphaëlle Lacasse are all undefeated in the spring season.
  •  Husker duo No. 27 Ana Zamburek and Anfisa Danilchenko look to rise in the rankings after defeating South Dakota on Tuesday. They are 9-2 on the season. 
  • The Huskers have seven-straight upcoming home matches before heading to Minnesota and Wisconsin in March.
