Huskers Receive ITA Academic Awards

The Nebraska men's tennis team has been named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team, announced by the ITA this week. The organization also named six Huskers as ITA Scholar-Athletes.

Graduate student William Gleason, senior Shunya Maruyama, junior Nic Wiedenhorn, sophomores Roni Hiertaranta and Calvin Mueller, and freshman Leo Linquet were all recognized for their academic success in 2022-23. This is Shunya Maruyama’s second time receiving the award, having also received it in 2021. Maruyama, Wiedenhorn, Hiertaranta, Mueller and Linquet will return for the 2023-24 season.

To be eligible for the team award, teams must have a combined GPA of 3.20 or higher. To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must be a varsity letterwinner, have a grade-point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
