Travis Vokolek
Tight End
Postgame Quotes vs. Wisconsin (Nov. 19, 2022)

On how he is feeling emotionally

“Like you said a lot of emotions throughout the game. Lots of highs and at the end of the day we did not win the game so guys are emotional and upset but it just sucks because it is not a very good way to go out for all the seniors. It leaves a bad taste in our mouth for this last week. I thought we had a great week of practice and it is unfortunate but we are going to learn from it. We have one more left at Iowa. We all know about those guys so like you said emotional day but it is not a good way for our seniors to go out but we are going to move on from it. One more opportunity for this team and we are excited.”

On the offensive struggles
“I am not sure. Like I told you guys before we trust anybody that goes in there and plays quarterback or receiver or tight end or o line or running back. We trust those guys. I do not know what it is. There is signs of the offense being really good and then like you pointed out there is times when we struggle so if I knew I would tell you but I do not.”

On how the offense felt in the last three minutes of the game
“In a perfect world we get that first down and at the end of the day the game is over is what we really thought. Unfortunately it did not happen so that is our fault. Our coaches call the plays for us. They set us up to execute. As an offense as a whole we did not execute very well. Not everyone did their job and those are the results that happen so it is unfortunate we have to put our defense in that spot. I thought they played great. I give credit to all those guys on defense. They play their rear ends off and they played really well today so it hits hard that the offense had to put them in that situation and we take full responsibility for that.”

On losing close games
“I do not think there is any doubt because I know we can do things. I have seen us do it before. I do not think it is a lack of confidence. I can tell you everyone in that huddle whenever the ball was on the 10 or 11 we went out there thinking that we were going to win the game. We went out there thinking that we could get it done so it was not any doubt or lack of confidence just like I said we did not execute to the best of our ability and not everyone did their job and that is the result from it.”

On Casey Thompson
“I thought Casey (Thompson) played well. He is a tough son-of-a-gun. I respect him. He is a great dude great leader. He has that fire in him. I thought he played well. I thought he made plays when he could. I thought he played good.”
