NU Drops Battle to Michigan, 4-1

Ann Arbor, Mich. - The Nebraska women's tennis team (12-9, 5-4 Big Ten) fell to the No. 22 Michigan Wolverines (12-5, 6-1 Big Ten) 4-1 Friday afternoon at the Varsity Tennis Center. 

The Huskers started off strong in doubles competition. In the No. 1 spot, Kristina Novak and Maja Makoric won against Miller and Cerdan (MICH), 6-3. In the No. 3 spot, Ellie Kuckelman and Samantha Alicea took the match over Michigan's Kelly and Hammond, 6-3 to secure the doubles point. Falling short on Court Two was Chloe Kuckelman and Isabel Adrover Gallego, 0-6.
 
To start singles play, Makoric faced No. 77 Jaeden Brown in the No. 2 spot and fell 1-6, 3-6. Sandberg dropped the two-set match at No. 5 against Fliegner, 1-6,1-6. Finishing the conference singles play for the Huskers at No. 6 was Ellie who battled, but fell 5-7, 2-6, and Alicea competed in the No. 4 spot against Michigan's Cerdan losing 1-6, 7-6 (4). Novak played in the No. 1 spot with a three-set matchup against Miller that went unfinished, and in the No. 3 spot, Adrover Gallego forced a third-set, but the match was left unfinished. 

Up next, the Huskers will return home and face Michigan State on Sunday, April 15 at 11 a.m. CT.
