Huskers Post Two Victories in California

The Nebraska beach volleyball team finished the season with a 5-0 win over St. John's River State College and 3-2 over Irvine Valley College on Saturday in Irvine, California.

The Huskers concluded the season with an 8-12 overall record after three straight wins to finish out their 11-day trip to Hawaii and California.

All five Husker pairs earned sweeps in the first match against St. John's River State College. Kenzie Knuckles and Madi Kubik won 21-13, 21-12 at No. 1, followed by Keonilei Akana/Ally Batenhorst (21-13, 21-14), Bekka Allick/Lexi Rodriguez (21-16, 21-10), Hayden Kubik/Lindsay Krause (21-12, 21-4) and Nicklin Hames/Whitney Lauenstein (21-6, 21-15).

The Big Red then fought to a 3-2 win against Irvine Valley College. Knuckles and Kubik won again in the top spot, hanging on for a 21-18, 16-21, 15-13 victory. Allick and Rodriguez won at No. 3, 21-15, 19-21, 15-5. And Kubik and Krause earned the most decisive Husker victory for the Huskers, 21-10, 21-7 at No. 4.
