The Nebraska beach volleyball team began competition at the Queen's Cup in Honolulu, Hawaii on Thursday.
The Huskers faced unbeaten No. 3 TCU in the opening match and fell 5-0 to the Horned Frogs. Nicklin Hames and Lindsay Krause were most competitive for the Big Red in their No. 4 match, losing a tight one, 21-18, 22-20. Bekka Allick and Lexi Rodriguez also pushed TCU's No. 3 pair, falling 21-18, 21-18.
In the second match of the day, the Huskers battled but fell just short to UC Davis, 3-2. Madi Kubik and Kenzie Knuckles were 21-18, 21-17 winners as the Huskers' top pair. Ally Batenhorst and Keonilei Akana also provided a 21-12, 21-12 win in the No. 2 spot. The other three matches went to UC Davis in straight sets.
Nebraska, now 5-6 on the season, is back on Queen's Beach on Friday for matches against No. 10 California at Noon and No. 9 Hawaii at 4 p.m.
