The Husker Post Eligibility Opportunity (PEO) scholarship continued to assist Husker student-athlete alumni during the Fall 2021 semester. Since 2015, the PEO program has assisted over 300 Husker alumni who have graduated and exhausted their athletic eligibility to increase their career marketability, personal development and intellectual growth. During the Fall 2021 semester, 22 alumni (12 internships, 10 graduate school) from 13 different Husker teams utilized the $7,500 scholarship which is guaranteed to all Husker letterwinners who meet the requirements. The PEO program has now awarded over $2.1 million of scholarship funding in it's six year history following the $165,000 awarded during the Fall 2021 semester.
Fall 2021 Participant Testimonials
Grace Mitchell, Women's Basketball, Internship at College Hill OBGYN
"This confirmed my passion and love for treating patients and advancing my education into PA school to move up in the medical field from a medical assistant to a future PA. I am grateful because I will graduate from PA school with less debt because of the generosity of the program."
Petra Luteran, Women's Track & Field, Internship at Hy-Tech Weight Loss
"I am beyond grateful for this opportunity. I was an unpaid intern during the semester so the stipend was a great help to be able to pay my bills. There is so much knowledge and skills I learned through my internship that I am thankful for!"
Trey Kissack, Baseball, UNL Counseling Psychology Program
"This experience has allowed me to grow knowledge and confidence within my graduate studies to be later applied in my professional career. The donations and additional support make the process of transitioning from an athlete to a new stage of life much less scary. Additionally, the sense of support is comforting and greatly reduces stress that would otherwise be amplified. Nebraska Athletics is second to none in their preparations for creating lifelong success for its athletes."
