Lincoln, Neb.- The No. 9 Husker Rifle team moved to 5-3 on the season with a 4,708-4,691 loss to No. 6 Air Force on Sunday.
Fifth-year senior Emily Cheramie earned an overall second place finish with an aggregate score of 1,181. Sophomore Madelynn Erickson placed fourth (1,177) while sophomore Cecelia Ossi (1,167, seventh) and freshman Mackenzie Strauch (1,161, 10th) rounded out the scoring lineup.
Head Coach Mindy Miles was happy with the team's finish to the fall portion of the season.
"We broke through the average the team has been sitting at for the last couple weeks," Miles said. "Emily ended the fall season on a fantastic 1,181 aggregate. Madelynn shot a personal best smallbore of 587. I am proud the team worked hard for this result. I'm looking forward to getting the team back together after a much deserved break."
In the smallbore, Cheramie placed first with a 591 and Erickson placed second with a 587. They were joined in the top ten by Ossi, who placed sixth with a 580.
Elena Flake led the Huskers with a fourth-place finish in the air rifle with a 592. Cheramie placed fifth with a 590, followed by Erickson in sixth with a 590. Strauch (588, seventh) and Ossi (587, eighth) rounded out the lineup.
That match ended the team's fall portion of the schedule. NU will be back in action against Akron on Jan. 15.
