Lincoln, Neb.- The No. 9 Nebraska Rifle Team will take on No. 6 Air Force at the Nebraska Rifle Range on Nov. 20 and 21.
The match is set to start at 8 a.m. Fans can follow along with live scores and updates at https://results.megalink.no/#!/.
The No. 9 ranked Huskers are looking to bounce back after they took their first loss of the season against No. 3 TCU last weekend. Nebraska is looking for its fourth win against a top-20 opponent this season, and Head Coach Mindy Miles has faith in her team to finish the fall portion of the season strong.
"The team will have to come together and push themselves and their fellow teammates," Miles said. "This is their last big push for a good team score before the holidays. I'm optimistic that the team will reproduce the quality shots I've seen in practice."
Last weekend, fifth-year senior Emily Cheramie made her air rifle debut for the season. Due to an injury, she was only able to compete in the smallbore for the first five matches. She shot a 591, which was the highest score for a Husker and fourth overall.
"I was excited to be able to compete in both smallbore and air," Cheramie said. "It has taken a lot of work to be able to be back in a place where I physically can and it was great to see all the effort pay off last weekend. I'm excited to be able to compete in both again this weekend at home, especially as the fall portion of the season wraps up."
The No. 6 Air Force Falcons have won the President's Trophy and both of their dual matches this season. They beat UTEP with an aggregate of 4,701 and Army with an aggregate of 4,714.
Last weekend, the Huskers competed against TCU and UTEP. They lost to TCU but defeated UTEP with an aggregate of 4,677. Sophomore Cecelia Ossi placed third overall with a score of 1,172. Emily Cheramie (1,170), Madelynn Erickson (1,169) and Elena Flake (1,166) also finished in the top 10.
Following the match against Air Force, the Huskers will have a break until Jan. 15, when they take on Akron in Lincoln.
