Huskers Continue Win Streak Against Bulldogs

Charleston, S.C.- The fifth-ranked Nebraska Rifle Team remained undefeated on Saturday, as the Huskers topped The Citadel, 4,677-4,544.

The Huskers swept the top four spots overall and were led by sophomore captain Cecelia Ossi with a score of 1,174. She edged out Madelynn Erickson (1,173), Mackenzie Strauch (1,157), Kinga Aletto (1,152) and Elena Flake (1,150), who rounded out the top five. Aletto's score did not count in the team competition.

All-American Emily Cheramie led the team in the smallbore, shooting a 588. Ossi (585), Erickson (584), Strauch (577) and Aletto (569) placed second through fifth, respectively.

"Smallbore went really well this weekend as a team this weekend as Emily, Madelynn, and Cecelia all had great days," Head Coach Mindy Miles said of the event. "Madelynn specifically showed her talent in a 100 in one of her standing cards. Emily executed a skill in standing she worked hard on over the past week in practice. Cecelia had a strong come back which sustained her season average. Emily shot an excellent prone, a 200."

In the air rifle, the Huskers took the first three positions. Ossi and Erickson both scored a 589, the best of the event, and Flake (585) and Aletto (583) placed third and fourth respectively. Strauch rounded out the scoring lineup with a score of 580, as she finished seventh.

The Huskers will return home to face Army West Point next Saturday, Oct. 23, at 8 a.m.
