Huskers in the Pros: Roby Makes NBA Debut

This week's Huskers in the Pros is headlined by the debut of Isaiah Roby with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Roby, who was traded by Dallas to Oklahoma City on Jan. 24, made his debut Wednesday evening in a 120-100 win over Sacramento. The 6-foot-8 forward missed his only shot from the floor in a two-minute stint.

Roby is the 10th former Husker to reach the NBA.  Roby played in nine games with the Texas Legends in the NBA G League, averaging 9.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He had missed nearly two months of action with a foot injury before returning to action recently.

Roby is one of four players from the 2018-19 Huskers making an impact in professional basketball. James Palmer Jr. is playing for the Agua Caliente Clippers and is averaging 19.8 points per game on 49 percent shooting as a rookie.  Isaac Copeland Jr. has returned to action following knee surgery one year ago and has played in seven games for the Texas Legends, averaging 2.3 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.  Glynn Watson Jr. is playing for Lavrio in Greece and averaging 8.4 points and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 43 3ercent from 3-point range.

Elsewhere, Shavon Shields led Baskonia to an 83-79 win in their last round of action. Shields, who is averaging 9.6 ppg and 3.5 rpg in the top league in Spain, was the game's MVP against Khimki in the team's last Euroleague game, finishing with 22 points and six rebounds.

Terran Petteway continued his strong season for Pistoia in the Italian Serie A, finishing with 24 points against Treviso. On the season, Petteway is averaging 15.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game.  Another former Husker veteran putting together a good season is Caleb Walker, who is playing for FOS Provence in France. He had 27 points and three steals in his last game and is currently averaging 19.7 points per game in his first season with the team.

A total of 23 former Husker basketball players are playing professionally, either overseas or in the NBA and G League, and we will try to highlight several performances throughout the season on Huskers.com thanks to Eurobasket.
