The Nebraska swimming and diving team returns to dual action Saturday, Nov. 9, to continue the fall season against Kansas. The dual is set for a 2 p.m. start.

Nebraska will travel to Lawrence, Kan., carrying a 3-0 record. The Jayhawks also enter Saturday's dual with a 3-0 mark. Nebraska owns a 12-26 all-time dual record against Kansas, with the most recent meeting being a 146-152 Kansas win last season in Lincoln.

Haebig has two victories for the season in the middle distance freestyle races. Coffey, Haebig and junior captain Izzie Murray will look to lead the team in Lawrence.

The Jayhawks are led by sophomore Kate Steward, who has earned several victories this season in the breaststroke events, leading the Big 12 this season in the 100 and currently in second in the 200. Senior Jenny Nusbaum ranks in the top 10 in the Big 12 in three different freestyle events and Manon Manning is in the top five in the Big 12 in both backstroke events. Diver Jiaya Chu has claimed first-place finishes in both one-meter and three-meter events this year.

The Huskers will next travel to Missouri on Nov. 20-22 for the Mizzou Invite.

Huskers Top Cyclones, Improve to 3-0

The Nebraska Swimming and Diving team gave its fans something to cheer about in the home-opener at the Devaney Center Natatorium, taking down Iowa State and improving to 3-0 on the year.

The meet featured the momentum between both teams swinging back and forth, but eventually the Huskers found themselves on top of the Cyclones 151-149.

In Saturday's victory, the Husker's took victories in both of the freestyle distance races, thanks to the strong swimming of Audrey Coffey. Coffey first won the 1000 free (10:14.95), marking herself with a collegiate career best in that category, and then won the 500 free (5:03.36) in the tightest race of the afternoon. Rachel Powers followed up with a second place finish in the 1000 free (10:16.75) and a third place finish in the 500 free (5:06.15).

Senior Gwen Worlton had herself an outing as she took victories in both breaststroke events. She first won the 100 breast (1:05.10) and soon after took home her second victory of the afternoon with a first place finish in the 200 breast (2:21.65).

To follow up her teammate's already stellar performances, junior Madison Coughlen captured victories in the 100 yard butterfly (56.72) and 200 yard butterfly (2:03.85), earning her first two first-place finishes of the season. Junior captain Izzay Murray chipped in points for the Huskers landing in third place behind Coughlen in the 100 fly (57.26) and earning a runner-up position in the 200 fly (2:07.10)

In the sprint freestyle races, captain Autumn Haebig earned her second victory of the season in the 200 free (1:52.70) and her third runner-up finish, taking second in the 100 free (52.94). Carla Gonzalez finished in third place in the 100 free (53.39), while Savannah Savitt earned herself a fourth place finish in the 200 yard free (1:55.35).

Senior Lindsey Stalheim earned two more runner-up finishes in the meet, grabbing second in both the 100 back (57.62) and the 200 back (2:05.25). Carla Gonzalez followed up Stalheim in the 100 back, snagging third place (58.25).

In the 200 yard IM, Tori Beeler reclaimed her crown, winning the race for the second time this season (2:06.51), totalling up three total victories on the year. Freshman Berkely Livingston chipped in with her first runner-up finish of the year and earning a career best in the 200 IM (2:08.12).

On the board for the Huskers, diver Hallie Roman led the way, capturing two third-place finishes with (255.60) in the one-meter and (266.40) in the three-meter. Freshman Reagan Hinze followed up with a fourth place finish in the three-meter (233.48).

In relay action, the Huskers earned second place in both the 200 medley relay (1:49.78) with Stalheim, Savitt, Berning, and Lanaghen and the 400 freestyle relay (3:31.31) with Haebig, Savitt, Gonzalez, and Stalheim. The second place finish in the 400 free relay proved its importance as the last race of the meet and clinching a Husker victory.

The Huskers improve to 38-4-1 all time against ISU with the 151-149 win and will look to take their momentum into November.
