Fort Worth, Texas - The No. 5 Nebraska rifle team fell in a close match against Memphis today in Fort Worth, Texas. The final match score was 4,666-4,669.
The Huskers posted a team score of 2,302 in smallbore, led by junior Emily Cheramie's career-high mark of 588. She was followed by Elena Flake's mark of 577. Cheramie claimed first place overall in the individual standings. Freshman Hana Musser added 573. Seniors Samantha Peterson and Kayla Gadeken fired 564 and 554, respectively, to round out the Huskers.
Nebraska produced a team score of 2,364 in air rifle. Macey Way was out front with 584, continuing her run of scores over 590. Musser fired a career-high 591, followed by Cheramie with 590. Flake followed closely with 589, and Peterson fired 581 to complete the Huskers' squadded effort.
Memphis fired a team score of 2,320 in smallbore, led by Levi Clark's 581. Taylor Gibson helped lead the Tigers to a 2,349 air rifle score with a mark of 588.
The Huskers now have a two-month winter break from match competition, finishing the fall schedule 3-7. The team will be back in action in the new year on Jan. 18 in Annapolis, Md., to face Ole Miss.
