Hames and Stivrins Record Memorable Win

The Nebraska beach volleyball team dropped a pair of matches late Monday night at the Ching Complex in Honolulu, wrapping up their stay in Hawaii.

Nicklin Hames and Lauren Stivrins earned the biggest victory of the trip for the Huskers in the final match of the Huskers' stay in Hawaii. The duo defeated fifth-ranked Hawaii's Ari Homayun and Julia Scoles, 21-18, 14-21, 15-13, at the No. 1 spot. Although Hawaii won the match, 4-1, it was the first point the Huskers secured against the Rainbow Wahine in three matches this weekend.

"Lauren and Nicklin played their most consistent match of the season against a really good Hawaii team," coach Jaylen Reyes said. "They were able to incorporate things we talked about in training and make adjustments as the match went along. We are super proud of them."

Earlier in the day, the Huskers dropped a 3-2 match to Boise State. Kenzie Knuckles and Jazz Sweet were 21-15, 21-15 winners against Boise State's No. 2 pair. Megan Miller and Callie Schwarzenbach also won a match against the Broncos for the second straight day, taking a 21-16, 23-21 win at the No. 5 spot.

The Huskers are now 10-8 on the season as they head back to the mainland. Nebraska will play six more matches in California on Thursday-Saturday.
