Huskers Take Down Wolfpack On Senior Day

Lincoln, Neb. – The tenth-ranked Nebraska rifle team defeated the No. 13 NC State Wolfpack on Senior Day, 4,627-4,606.

The Huskers posted an overall team score of 2,288 in smallbore. Emily Cheramie led the team with a mark of 575, followed closely by Samantha Peterson (574). Bailey Powell added 571. Seniors Rachel Yager and Hannah Virga rounded out the Huskers with 568 and 567, respectively. Competing independently, senior Nina Radulovic recorded 568.

In air rifle the team came together to put up a score of 2,339, led by Emily Cheramie’s match-high score of 590.  The effort marked the third time this season that Cheramie reached the 590 milestone. Samantha Peterson and Bailey Powell added consistency with 589 and 584, respectively. Maddie Korthas (576) and Elizabeth Lorentz (575) completed the squadded effort.

NC State recorded a team score of 2,281 in smallbore, led by Emily Fisher’s mark of 579. Fisher also led the team in air rifle after posting a score of 584. She was assisted by a pair of 580 scores from Will Marciniak and Claire Spina. The Wolfpack’s overall team score in air rifle was 2,325.

The Huskers take the range again on Sat, Feb. 2 when they travel to Oxford, Miss. to face Ole Miss. The next day on Feb. 3 they will be competing against Memphis in Memphis, Tenn. Match action is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday. Fans can follow the action on social media.
