Junior (2019-20)
Ewert competed twice in both smallbore and air rifle for the Huskers as a junior in 2019-20. Ewert posted a season-high score of 565 in smallbore against TCU. In both of her appearances in air rifle, Ewert scored 580 - just one shy of her career best. In the classroom, Ewert was an Academic All-Big Ten pick and was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall. She also was a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team and earned a Nebraska Silver Academic Medallion.
Sophomore (2018-19)
Elizbeth Ewert competed for regular shooting action in 2018-19 as one of three returning sophomores on Nebraska’s roster. Ewert saw shooting action in six matches, averaging 559.17 in smallbore and 576.40 in air rifle. She recorded a new career high in smallbore (571) when the Huskers faced Akron. Ewert was also counted on for leadership off the range. She was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors. Additionally, Ewert was named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for her service and leadership.
Freshman (2017-18)
As one of three freshmen in 2017-18, Ewert competed for a regular spot in both smallbore and air rifle for the Huskers. Ewert competed nine times each in smallbore and air rifle over the course of the season, recording high scores of 567 in smallbore and 581 in air rifle.
Off the range, Ewert was actively involved in the community and in the classroom, earning spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2017-18, while also being a member of the 2018 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
Before Nebraska
A native of Burnsville, Minn. Ewert attended Lakeville South High School, where she was a part of the National Honor Society and Student Council. Ewert also received the Rotary Student of the Month Award in September 2016, the South Suburban Conference Scholar Award and three Academic Excellence Awards. Ewert was a member of the volleyball team for two years. In ninth grade, her club volleyball team (Northern Lights) placed fifth at nationals.
Ewert has qualified for the National Junior Olympic Qualifiers in Colorado Springs, Colo., for five consecutive years and was one of 15 individuals to qualify for the 2016 American Legion Junior 3-Position Air Rifle Championships, where she finished 11th. Her team placed first at the 2016 U.S. Army Air Rifle National Championships and the 2016 USA Shooting 3-Position Air Rifle Junior Olympics. She was also a member of the team that finished second at the 2016 CMP 3-Position Air Rifle National Championships. Individually, Ewert was selected for the International Randle Team in Bristol, Ind., in 2016. In 2013, she also placed first in her age group at the National Junior Olympics and the Winter Air Gun Championships. That same year, Ewert achieved the Air Rifle Distinguished Badge.
Personal
Elizabeth is the daughter of Ross Ewert and Joy Simonsen and was born on Feb. 9, 1999 in St. Paul, Minn. She has one older brother, Sam, and one younger sister, Sarah. Ewert is majoring in biochemistry at Nebraska with the intent to go to medical school. She chose Nebraska over TCU. In her free time, Ewert enjoys playing sand volleyball, water tubing and running.
