Akron, Ohio – The Nebraska rifle team used season-high smallbore and aggregate scores to claim a victory today against Akron, 4,666-4,636. The win marked a turnaround for the Huskers after falling short to the Zips the previous day.
The Huskers came together for a season-high team score of 2,316 in smallbore. Samantha Peterson and Emily Cheramie claimed the top two places overall with 584 and 583, respectively. Rachel Yager added the second-highest smallbore score of her career with 575, followed closely by Kayla Gadeken’s mark of 574. Bailey Powell completed the squadded effort with 570.
Emily Cheramie and Elizabeth Lorentz fired 590 each in air rifle, leading the field. Samantha Peterson and Bailey Powell tied for fourth place with 585. Kayla Gadeken rounded out the Huskers with 578. Nebraska’s overall team score for air rifle was 2,350.
Akron fired 2,297 in smallbore, led by Andre Gross (582) and Wyatt Openshaw (577). Kera Kaufman (587) was out front for the Zips in their air rifle performance (2,339). Lauryn Cinadr, Caleb Lloyd and Wyatt Openshaw all shot 584.
