Huskers Place Second in Akron

Akron, OH - The No. 11 Nebraska rifle team claimed second place (4,656) in its meet against No. 12 Akron (4,660) and Morehead State (4,634).

The Huskers posted a team score of 2,311 in smallbore, led by sophomore Emily Cheramie's mark of 583. Cheramie claimed first place in smallbore and junior Samantha Peterson claimed third place, firing a 581. Juniors Kayla Gadeken and Bailey Powell fired 574 and 573, respectively. Rachel Yager fired 571 to round out the Huskers.

Nebraska produced a team score of 2,343 in air rifle. Freshman Elizabeth Lorentz was out front with 590, . Emily Chermaie was close behind with 589. Bailey Powell and Samantha Peterson added 581 and 583, respectively. Kayla Gadeken (580) completed the Huskers' squadded effort. Although not squadded, sophomores Mari Butler and Elizabeth Ewert fired 565 and 571, along with Rachel Yager (581).

Akron fired a team score of 2,315 in smallbore, led by Caleb Lloyd's 582. Rebecca Green led Akron to a 2,345 air rifle score with a mark of 590. Morehead State fired a team score of 2,292 in smallbore, led by Ryan Hinson's 575. Siarra Crum and Karly Potts helped lead Morehead State to a 2,342 air rifle score with marks of 588.
