The Huskers struck first with one run in the opening frame. Mojo Hagge hit a leadoff single and, in the following at-bat, advanced to third when Indiana committed an error on a fielder’s choice. Jesse Wilkening was hit-by-pitch to load the bases with no outs. Luke Roskam’s sacrifice fly drove in Hagge to give NU a 1-0 lead. A double play ended NU’s chance for additional runs.

Indiana’s Drew Ashley hit a solo home run in the top of the second to tie the game at 1-1. The Hoosiers added four runs in the top of the fourth to take a 5-1 advantage. Luke Miller hit a three-run home run before Scotty Bradley hit a solo home run in the following at-bat.

IU tacked on one run in the top of the fifth to make its lead 6-1. After a scoreless sixth inning for both teams, NU scored one run in the bottom of the seventh. Angelo Altavilla hit a leadoff single and advanced to second on a groundout in the following at-bat. Alex Henwood roped a double to drive in Altavilla. Henwood advanced to third when the following batter grounded out, but was left stranded on an inning-ending strikeout.

In the eighth inning, Nebraska scored one run to trim the lead to 6-3. Wilkening blistered a solo home run to right field, his eighth of the season.

NU starter Luis Alvarado went 3.0 innings and allowed five runs before Paul Tillotson (4.0 innings) and Mike Waldron (2.0) came in for relief appearances. Tillotson allowed one run, while Waldron held the Hoosiers scoreless to close the game.
