Annapolis, Md. – The No. 8 Nebraska rifle team finished the weekend with a 4,670-4,655 victory over No. 11 NC State.
Emily Cheramie and Samantha Peterson led the Huskers to a season-high team smallbore score of 2,321. Cheramie and Peterson both fired 583. Nina Radulovic (578), Hannah Virga (577) and Dacotah Faught (572) added solid scores to round out the Huskers. Kayla Gadeken fired a 580 as a nonsquadded member.
The outstanding smallbore effort was enough for the Huskers to survive being outscored by the Wolfpack in air rifle. The Huskers combined for 2,349 points as a team. Dacotah Faught was out front for NU with a 593. Hannah Virga was close behind with 591. Samantha Peterson (584), Nina Radulovic (581) and Kayla Gadeken (580) made up the rest of the scoring squad. Emily Cheramie, although not squadded, fired a personal season-high score of 591.
North Carolina fired 2,293 in smallbore, led by Kendra Jacobs’ 576. Lauren Phillips and Claire Zanti added 574 each. The Wolfpack put together a 2,362-point air rifle effort, led by a score of 596 from Kendra Jacobs and a 595 from Lauren Phillips.
The Huskers will take a break from competition until Feb. 03. Nebraska will host Akron at the Nebraska Rifle Range at 9 a.m.
