LINCOLN - The Nebraska track and field team swept the men's and women's team titles at the Mark Colligan Memorial in front of a crowd of 1,279 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center Indoor Track on Saturday.
The Nebraska men scored 165 points to win their sixth straight Mark Colligan team title. The Huskers improved their nation-leading dual-meet win streak to 21 straight meets dating back to 2001. Houston was second with 132 points. Illinois (121) and Kansas (88) rounded out the team scoring.
The Husker women won their fifth title in the last six years with 169 total points. Houston (127.5), Kansas (118) and Illinois (91.5) followed the Big Red.
The Huskers collected 15 event titles on the day.
Landon Bartel produced a career-best performance in the high jump for the second straight week to begin the 2018 season. Bartel cleared a new personal best 7-3 3/4 (2.23m) - one week after clearing 7-3 for the first time - and won the event title to move to No. 1 in the Big Ten, No. 4 in the nation and No. 9 in NU indoor history.
Nick Percy won the men's weight throw in his first competition this season. Percy set a new career best with a throw of 66-9 3/4 (20.36m), the fourth-best mark in school history. Kristina Insingo won the women's weight throw with a personal-best 55-5 1/2 (16.90m). Toni Tupper was the shot put champion at 52-8 3/4 (16.07m).
Angela Mercurio won the triple jump with a mark of 42-5 1/2 (12.94m), a new indoor personal best that ranks first in the Big Ten and No. 10 nationally. Isaiah Griffith claimed the men's long jump win with a jump of 24-7 (7.49m).
Petra Luteran was the high jump champion with a mark of 5-9 1/4 (1.76m). Tyler Loontjer won the pole vault competition with a clearance of 16-2 (4.93m).
On the track, Jasmine Barge won the 60-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 8.34, the second-fastest time in the Big Ten this season. Antoine Lloyd posted a time of 7.85 to win the men's 60-meter hurdles by .01 seconds over Illinois' David Kendziera.
Kierra Griggs was the women's 400-meters champion with an indoor best time of 54.03 that moved her to No. 3 in the Big Ten in the event. Michaela Peskova cruised to the 600-meters title with a time of 1:32.98. Moujtaba Mohammed did the same in the men's race with a time of 1:18.99.
The women's 4x400-meter relay of Griggs, Barge, Peskova and Chelsey Jones won their race with a time of 3:41.29, the second-fastest time in the Big Ten this season.
The men's 4x400-meter relay of Givon Washington, Elijah Lucy, Sam Bransby and Andy Neal closed out the meet with a winning time of 3:12.79.
The Husker women posted a 1-2-3 finish in the high jump, as Lara Omerzu (5-9 1/4) and Reka Czuth (5-7 1/4) followed Luteran in second and third place, respectively. Grant Anderson cleared 6-11 1/2 (2.12m) in the men's high jump to finish second behind Bartel's career-best day.
Shylia Riley was second in the long jump at 18-10 (5.74m), while Ieva Turke was third with an indoor PR of 18-8 1/2 (5.70m). Turke was also third in the triple jump, as she leaped 39-10 1/2 (12.15m). Kaiwan Culmer finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 51-1 (15.75m), the second-best mark in the Big Ten this season.
Andy Neal (47.57) took second in the men's 400 meters with the second-fastest time in the Big Ten this season. Chelsey Jones took second in the women's 400 meters with an indoor PR 54.99. Lakayla Harris was second in the 200 meters at 24.09.
Emma Bresser was second in the women's 800 meters with a PR of 2:14.90. Ty Moss was second in the men's race in 1:52.94.
In the men's shot put, Burger Lambrechts took second at 59-8 1/4 (18.19m), and Nick Coghill finished third at 56-3 1/4 (17.15m).
Chris Daniels finished third in the weight throw at 61-5 1/2 (18.73m), a personal best. Leah Meyer was third for the women with a toss of 49-10 1/2 (15.20m). Insingo finished third in the shot put with a throw of 45-8 (13.92m).
Elsa Forsberg took third in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:56.57.
