Tempe, Ariz. - The Nebraska softball team held No. 21 Arizona State scoreless in every inning but one Saturday night, but unfortunately for the Huskers, the Sun Devils scored 10 times in the second inning en route to a 10-1 run-rule victory at Farrington Stadium.

The win clinched a series victory for Arizona State (18-5) heading into Sunday's series finale at 1 p.m. (Central). The Huskers fell to 4-15 overall with their third straight loss, including their 11th loss to a ranked opponent.

The game started well, as senior MJ Knighten gave Nebraska a 1-0 lead with a two-out solo home run in the top of the first inning. The home run was Knighten's first homer of the season.

The Sun Devils were held scoreless in the bottom of the first before exploding for 10 runs in the second inning. Three Husker errors contributed to the big inning, as only two of the 10 runs were earned. Ulufa Leilua had a three-run homer in the inning, while Randi Farricker delivered a two-run double. The Sun Devils totaled seven hits in the frame, including two doubles and a homer.

Neither team scored again after the big inning, as the Huskers had only two hits after the first inning, while ASU managed only one hit after its big second inning.

Junior right-hander Kaylan Jablonski (1-8) took the loss, allowing 10 runs (two earned) in 2.0 innings. Senior right-hander Cassie McClure tossed 2.0 scoreless innings of one-hit relief. Giselle Juarez (3-2) earned the win for ASU, allowing one run on only one hit in 3.0 innings.
