Huskers Edged by Bruins in NCAA Second Round, 2-0

Morgantown, W.Va. – The Nebraska soccer team saw its season come to an end after a 2-0 loss to No. 18 UCLA in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The Bruins got on the scoreboard early with Annie Alvarado’s goal off an assist from Jessie Fleming in the fourth minute. UCLA scored for the second time in the 87th minute when Amber Munerlyn knocked it in off assists from Zoey Goralski and Fleming.

Nebraska’s freshman goalkeeper Aubrei Corder, a West Virginia native, managed four saves against UCLA. She had gone more than 623 minutes without allowing a goal before the fourth minute of Friday’s match. Corder finishes her first season in net for the Huskers with 78 saves and 20 goals allowed. She earned 11 shutouts in 22 appearances.

Nebraska’s offense took 10 shots, two of which were on goal, against the Bruins. Seniors Jaycie Johnson and Caroline Flynn, playing in their final match at Nebraska, each managed three shots. Junior Haley Hanson also took three shots.

The Huskers finish the season with an 11-6-5 record, which marks their most wins since 2013. Nebraska made its 12th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history this season.
