Lincoln, Neb. --- The No. 7 Nebraska rifle team earned the third-highest air rifle score in school history (2,364) on Saturday en route to a 4,664-4,578 victory over No. 18 UTEP at the NU Rifle Range.
The Huskers started off hot right from the start. In smallbore, Nina Radulovic was the top scorer for NU. The sophomore from Serbia fired 577. Rachel Martin and Samantha Peterson followed closely behind with 576 and 575, respectively. Jaycee Carter finished with 572. The Huskers outscored the Miners 2,300-2,254 in smallbore to take a comfortable lead heading into air rifle.
The Big Red built on that momentum in the second discipline, scoring the highest air rifle score this season, and the third-highest air rifle score in school history (2,364). Carter and Dacotah Faught each notched 593 to lead the team. Peterson tallied 592, while Martin and Kayla Gadeken each recorded 586. Maddie Korthas and Sarah Sutton, competing only individually, earned career-high scores of 581 and 585, respectively.
For the Miners, Nebraska native Rachael Schoenrock led the way with 569 in smallbore. In air rifle, Bailey Powell earned 591. The team finished with an air rifle score of 2,324.
