Sophomore (2016-17)
The walk-on competed for action all season, appearing a total of five times in both air rifle and smallbore. She earned a career-best score of 563 in smallbore against Ole Miss and season-best score 569 in air rifle.

Off the range, Brown earned a spot on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for efforts in the community and was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the spring of 2017.

Freshman (2015-16)
Brown was a walk-on for the Huskers and saw little action as a freshman, appearing four times in both smallbore and air rifle. She earned career-best scores of 556 and 575 in smallbore and air rifle, respectively.

Before Nebraska
Brown was the Kansas Women's Junior Olympic Champion in 2014 and tied for first again in 2015. She is a two-time National Junior Olympics participant in smallbore. She placed third in Precision Air Rifle at the Kansas Junior Olympics Qualifier in 2013.

Brown attended Fort Scott High School and was an active member of the Bourbon County 4-H Shooting Sports Club for 12 years. Brown was the Kansas State 4-H air rifle champion in 2012. She was a member of the National Kansas air rifle team in 2013, winning gold in 3-position and bronze in standing. Brown was the top qualifier in smallbore at the Kansas 4-H State Match in 2014. Brown led the Kansas team back to 4-H Nationals in smallbore the following year.

Brown was active in her community as well. She became certified as a 4-H Junior Rifle Instructor in 2013. Brown also participated in FFA and National Honor Society in high school and was on the girls golf team for two years.

Personal
Kaitlyn (Katie) is the daughter of Rocky and Barbara Brown. She was born on Aug. 4, 1997. Katie is majoring in fashion merchandising and business. Katie was also named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2016 and 2017. Katie earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the spring semesters of 2016 and 2017.
