Tulsa, Okla. - The Nebraska men's tennis team participated in the second day of the Saint Francis Health System Men's All-American Championships held at The University of Tulsa - Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The day consisted of play in the continuation of the Pre-Qualifying Draw for those that won their matches yesterday and the Pre-Qualifying Consolation for singles play.
The Huskers who will continue play in the Pre-Qualifying Draw include Marc Herrmann and Vasileios Stavropoulos.
In the continuation of Pre-Qualifying competition, Marc Herrmann began the second round of play in the draw against Kenneth Boykin of Oral Roberts. The match-up began with a win from Boykin of 6-1 over Herrmann. In the second set it looked like Herrmann had a chance to come back and take the set which led to a tie-breaker. Boykin finished with winning the tie breaker and allowing him to move on to the next round 7-6(4).
Vasileios Stavropoulos began his match later in the morning against TCU's Jerry Lopez. Stavropoulos put up a fight which resulted in two sets that both ended in tie-breakers. Ultimately Lopez pulled wins in both of the sets earning him the win with scores of 7-6(5) and 7-6(3) over Stavropoulos.
In Pre-Qualifying Consolation play, Andrew Dzulynsky kicked off the afternoon against Fabian Brand of UTSA. Dzulynsky came out with an impressive win going 6-0 in the first set over Brand and finishing the second set 6-2.
Scott Elsass took on Michael Sosnowski of Oral Robert where the two had a competitive match-up. Sosnowski went 6-4 in both the first and second sets over Elsass to take the win.
At 3:30 pm, Bradford Zitsch competed with Clemson's Christian Harris. Harris won the first set going 6-4 over Zitsch but had to fight in the second set when Zitsch made a return which resulted in a tie. Ultimately Harris won the giving him the match win 7-6(0).
Toby Boyer saw his first win since joining the Huskers. Boyer played Gonzalo Morell Raschiatore of Middle Tennessee where the duo had an exciting and competitive match. Raschiatore took the first set 5-7 but Boyer came back to win the second 6-2. With each player possessing a win of a set Boyer put fought and earned the final win in the third set where he produced a 6-4 mark over Raschiatore.
The final match-up for Nebraska was Chris Schindler as he took on Max Lunkin of Texas A&M in a loss to Lunkin. The result was a 6-2, 6-0 match in favor of Lunkin.
