Game Notes
Nebraska posted its second shutout of the season...the Huskers improved to 5-2 on the road in Big Ten Conference play...MJ Knighten recorded an infield single in the top of the first inning to extend her hitting streak to 20 games...Knighten joined Anne Steffan (2005) and Taylor Edwards (2013-14) as the only Huskers to hit safely in 20 consecutive games...Knighten finished 3-for-4 to produce her eighth three-hit game of the year...Kaylan Jablonski set career highs in innings (7.0) and strikeouts (7)...Jablonski's seven strikeouts are the most by a Husker this season.

West Lafayette, Ind. - Locked in a pitcher's duel for the second straight day, MJ Knighten provided the game's only offense to lift the Nebraska softball team to a 3-0 road victory at Purdue on Saturday afternoon.

Knighten finished 3-for-4, and she drove in all three runs with a fifth-inning RBI single and a two-run homer in the seventh. In the process, the sophomore extended her hitting streak to 20 games, the third-longest hitting streak in program history.

Knighten's timely hitting made a winner out of freshman right-hander Kaylan Jablonski, who was terrific in the best start of her young career. Jablonski (3-5) tossed her first career complete game, firing a three-hit shutout with a career-high seven strikeouts. Purdue had only two base runners get to third base in the game, as Jablonski fired the Huskers' second shutout of the season.

Behind the outstanding efforts from Jablonski and Knighten, the Huskers improved to 21-18 on the season and moved to 9-4 in conference play.

Nebraska gave Jablonski the only run she would need in the top of the fifth inning. Sophomore Kat Woolman drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a perfectly-executed sacrifice bunt from freshman Laura Barrow. Woolman then scored the game's first run on a two-out, RBI single from Knighten.

After stranding runners at second and third in the bottom of the fourth, Purdue left the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth. A leadoff single was followed by back-to-back fly outs, before a pair of two-out walks loaded the bases. But Jablonski escaped the jam with her career-high seventh strikeout.

In the top of the seventh, junior Kiki Stokes singled with two outs before Knighten blasted the first pitch she saw over the fence in left center for a two-run homer. Jablonski then retired the side in order in the bottom of the seventh to wrap up her third Big Ten victory in four decisions.

Lilly Fecho (16-11) took the loss for Purdue, which fell to 25-15 overall and 5-6 in Big Ten play.

The Huskers and Boilermakers wrap up their three-game series on Sunday at 11 a.m. (Central).
