Game Notes
Nebraska improved to 12-11, moving above .500 for the first time since Feb. 14...NU won its season-high fourth straight game...The Huskers picked up their eighth run-rule victory of the season...NU had two innings where it scored more than five runs...NU has now totaled 10 innings scoring five-or-more runs this season...the 13 runs tied Nebraska's season high for runs, while the 16 hits were one shy of the Huskers' season high.

Fullerton, Calif. - The Nebraska softball team exploded for a season-high 13 runs in a 13-2 run-rule victory over DePaul in the first of two games Saturday at the Easton Invitational in Fullerton, Calif.

The Huskers batted around in a six-run second inning and a seven-run fourth inning. Every spot in the order scored a run in the win, as 10 different Huskers crossed home plate. NU finished with 16 hits, one shy of its season high and its highest total in a game of fewer than seven innings.

Five Huskers produced multiple hits in the victory, while four players drove in multiple runs. Junior Kiki Stokes was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs, while sophomore MJ Knighten was also 2-for-4 with three RBIs hitting behind Stokes in the lineup. Sophomore Cassie McClure added two doubles as part of a 3-for-4 day that included two RBIs.

McClure (7-2) also earned a complete-game victory in the circle. She scatted seven hits and allowed two runs.

With the win, Nebraska improved to 12-11 on the season. DePaul fell to 7-15.

After being held scoreless in the top of the first, Nebraska exploded for six runs in the top of the second. Junior Dawna Tyson and senior Kylee Muir singled on the first two pitches of the inning before DePaul recorded the first out. Freshman Laura Barrow then produced an RBI single to score freshman pinch runner Madi Unzicker.

Leading 1-0, Nebraska erupted for five two-out runs to close out the inning. Stokes ripped a two-run double to push the lead to 3-0 before she scored on an RBI single from Knighten. Junior Alicia Armstrong followed with an infield single to put runners on the corners. Armstrong then stole second and a throwing error on the play allowed Knighten to score from third. McClure helped herself by capping the six-run inning with an RBI double.

DePaul answered back with two runs in the bottom of the frame to cut the lead to 6-2. The Blue Demons produced four consecutive hits that led to the two runs, but a pair of DePaul runners were thrown out trying to take an extra base, preventing a possible big inning.

Nebraska struck for seven more runs in the top of the fourth. The first batter of the inning was retired before Armstrong walked and scored on an RBI double from McClure. Tyson then produced an RBI single that scored sophomore pinch runner Lotte Sjulin and stretched the lead to 8-2. A walk to Muir put Huskers on first and second for junior Mattie Fowler, who delivered a two-run double to make it 10-2.

Following the second out of the inning, sophomore Kat Woolman singled before Stokes produced an RBI double that plated freshman pinch runner Taylor Otte. Knighten then capped the seven-run inning with an RBI single that put the Huskers on top 13-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, McClure worked around a one-out walk to close out Nebraska's 10th run-rule victory of the season.

The Huskers wrap up their play at the Easton Invitational with a final game Saturday against host Cal State Fullerton.
